snails tales...

ahhh ok well had a busy last couple of days so here is my catch up... yesterday I was at the company again!! I really love it there, things a done very differently to how we have been taught but its still interesting to see how they do it, Here is some of the designs I did the other day hope you like..... ahhh also at the company they have a little cafe down the road, which does ENGLISH FOOD!!!!! ITS AMAZING!!!! Think the people in the cafe are making spag bol for us on Saturday as we keep asking for it haha!! They also do spaghetti carbonara which is immense! We have had that everyday since we went to the company haha.... also iced coffee and when the weather is sunny its and amazing place to just sit outside and eat. Can’t wait for my decent meal there on Saturday.... Anyway today Iv been teaching at the middle school again, and as much as id been dreading it, its actually really good when you actually have more of an idea what you are doing... its still very draining teaching these kids, you end up repeating everything over and over again to try and make them understand, I also don't think it helps that the Chinese teachers sit at the back of the room translating and not giving the students chance to think about it and answer themselves, if the question is a little more difficult then what is your name??? They have piles of book stacked up on their desks too, so from what I can work out most of their lessons are spent more sat at the desk reading and practising for exams, although I might be wrong. The teachers and students seems surprised about how I taught the lesson as it involved people interacting with me and learning more through videos and group work, I don’t think they use these techniques out here much, but the students seemed to really enjoy it! one of them was even up dancing to Justin Bieber I so wish I had film it to show you all now but it was so random I didn't have time to find my camera! They are good kids and they do want to learn, but there is just not any discipline in the schools out here so the kids tend to get away with a lot more then what I did at school, although these kids don't push the boundaries quite as much as English kids do haha! All in all the lessons went very well and I think the kids enjoyed them. When we had finished teaching we went to tea, and it was like a special event for them today, with all English teachers gathering together for something to do with politics (I cant tell you exactly what as my memory is like a gold fish, and also when we asked the English teacher called Sky, but at the time there was a man shouting strange things at us and giving us beer so I can’t actually remember what she said now) well the food was questionable and there were loads of fish which is my worst nightmare, so I stuck to what little meat there was, such as beef and pork, there was also some strange things I tried to tonight to the first time such as chickens stomach, which as nasty as it sounds was actually really good, Bamboo, which I think taster a little like aniseed, and also lake snails, which were ok, but a little chewy, anyway I would have to chicken stomach again and bamboo but I think the snails were a little too far haha! Also they showed us some Chinese customs, such as when you are drinking alcohol in a group, if you toast someone and say cheers, this means you have to down your drink…. This man decided he would make me and Caroline attempt this, I don’t think the other teachers were impressed with this to be honest but we found him quite funny and a little too drunk. Now I’m sat here on my rock hard bed which is actually just a stuffed piece of material on top of the bed boards... so think I should try and get some sleep... write again soon....
